CORE LIBRARY REPORT
More and more people are living in diverse communities in an increasingly globalised world. This case study looks at interactions between minoritized and majority communities to explore how a sense of ‘culture clash’ develops. It points to failures of majority groups to include minorities, and minorities’ difficulties in adapting to cultural and social changes.
It tracks relations between Muslim minorities living in the diaspora in the post 9/11 era to illuminate how cleavages within communities can fuel alienation and resentment, proposing methods of building a sense of community that crosses cultural barriers.
