Hamsatu Allamin is an educator, gender activist, author, and freelance writer, turned human rights defender and peacemaker with the Boko Haram insurgency in her community. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development focused on education, gender, human rights and peacebuilding. She created the Network of civil society organizations for Peace and WPS Network Network as Voice of the Voiceless, as well as 8 Networks of Victims and Survivors (with over 25,000 registered members).
Ms. Allamin is an Executive Council Member of the Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria, a founding member of the Women Alliance for Security Leadership, and a member of the Independent Review Panel of the GCERF, the African Union Network of Women Mediators FemWise, and the USIP Network of Nigerian Facilitators. She was the 2016 Woman Peace Maker of the Kroc IPJ, and was a 2018 Laureate of the Islamic Development Bank on Women Contribution to Sustainable Peace & Development. Ms. Allamin is an advocate of alternative approaches to end the Boko Haram insurgency and chosen one of Nigeria’s 2022 “Unsung Heroes”.
