Joanne Payton (UK)

Joanne Payton holds a Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Cardiff based on her research into ‘honour’-based violence, which was publised by Rutgers University Press in 2019 with academic contributions spanning topics such as violence against women, suicide, and Islam/ For over a decade, she served as the research and information officer for the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation, a UK-based charity supporting Middle Eastern women and was awarded their prestigious ‘True Honour’ award.

As Fuuse’s primary researcher since its inception, she has been instrumental in shaping their vision, projects and films. Now, she channels her expertise into directing CORE LIBRARY’s investigations into extremism, radicalisation, and polarisation, and their mission to foster pluralist, peaceful societies through informed discourse, empathy and understanding.
