Fardousa is actively involved in fostering interfaith dialogue and cross-cultural understanding. Out of this work, she ran for election to the city council. In this video, she describes hostile reactions when out canvassing, and the tremendous psychological impacts of dealing with Islamophobia on a regular basis, which have impeded her from her ability to take part in community work. Fardousa describes the wearying effects of living in an America which has become hostile to Muslims and Islam.
