Petter Nesser is a senior researcher at the Norwegian Research Establishment (FFI) and associate professor at BI Norwegian Business School.
Trained in political science, history and Arabic at University of Oslo (UiO) and The American University in Cairo (AUC), Nesser has conducted extensive research on jihadism for nearly two decades, while concentrating on terror networks in Europe, radicalization processes and modus operandi.
Nesser is currently focusing on the methodology of including foiled plots in terrorism research, while working on the comparative study of jihadi versus right-wing terrorism and a book about ‘terrorist entrepreneurs’. He communicates his research findings in Norway and internationally, through academic conferences and teaching, speeches and briefings before governmental agencies and NGOs, and via the media. Nesser is member of the government-appointed Norwegian Extremism Commission.
